Allison + Reagan Wedding Preview — Fine Art Lakeside Wedding Photography — Sebring, FL

There is nothing quite like a lakeside wedding celebration in my book. Especially when it has as many thoughtful details as Allison and Reagan's big day this past weekend at their lakeside family home in Sebring, FL. From the stone laid cross that served as their wedding aisle, to their initials carved for generations to come in their "wedding" tree, to thoughtful handmade details from family and friends, to walking down the aisle three sets of grandparents representing decades upon decades of committed marriages centered on Christ, this day was truly a celebration of family, faith and committed love through and through. It was an honor and blessing to be there to capture it all! Congrats Allison and Reagan!

Horseshoe Bend Fine Art Film Destination Wedding Photography — Sheri + James — Page, Arizona

Horseshoe Bend Fine Art Film Destination Wedding Photography — Sheri + James — Page, Arizona

Horseshoe Bend in Page, Arizona at golden hour is nothing short of magical. Add in a gorgeous bride and groom and 60 of their closest family and friends bathed in the warm desert light and you have something like a dream. Sheri + James said their joyful, tearful “I dos” earlier this month canyon side and I had the honor of being there to capture it all.

This lovely pair agreed to be my models in the Judean desert. After a morning spent at The Dead Sea, a quick stop at the cliff top city of Masada and a long drive through the winding roads between the hills of the Judean Desert we arrived at the Kfar Hanokdim Bedouin Camp for the night freshened up and hit the hills just outside the camp. I snapped a roll of film in the hazy desert sunset light. We were late for our Bedouin Camp dinner to capture the fading desert light for the photos with these two. It was worth it. And we still got to eat.

Israel — Fine Art Film Holy Land Travel Photography

My mom and my brother just texted to say they’d landed in Tel Aviv. Their 10 day Holy Land adventure begins today. My heart is one part ecstatic for the experiences they are about to partake in and one part aching that I am not there by their side for it all. Israel is like nothing else. I learned this when I journeyed there with the Great Commission Bible Institute in the spring of 2018 and I pray all will line up for me to go back again someday. But for now I have my notes and photos from my own Christian pilgrimage in the Holy Land just a year and a half ago. I traipsed across the foreign landscape carrying three cameras (a DSLR, a medium format Contax 645 and my iPhone 10) aching to tell the story I saw before my eyes. I came back with a card full of images and a bag full of film exposed in the warm light of a place I now knew and longed for return. These photos are like treasures to me. Which reminded me that I had never officially shared the images from that experience (other than the occasional Instagram post, that one Heartland Living Magazine article feature and my Fine Art Holy Land Print Shop I opened up last fall). So now is the time. Below you’ll find a glimpse and a bit of a description and back story here and there. Enjoy the adventure!

Sheri + James Wedding Preview — Horseshoe Bend Wedding Photography — Page, Arizona

Earlier this month this sweet pair took us across the country to capture their breathtaking destination wedding in Page, Arizona. This Florida girl right here was awestruck and fully charmed by the warm landscapes of the west. Add a gorgeous bride and groom and 60 of their closest (and sweetest) family and friends on a cliffside canyon in the golden hour light and the weekend was nothing short of magical. Congrats Sheri and James! It was a true blessing to celebrate alongside you all with my camera in hand!

Bok Tower Gardens Wedding Photography — Harley + Austin Wedding Preview — Lake Wales, FL

When Harley and Austin contacted me about photographing their intimate wedding celebration on a Thursday in September I was immediately curious about the significance of the date. Some folks like to get married on dating anniversaries or their own parent's wedding anniversary or... as in the case with Harley and Austin, a date that is easy to remember. 09/19/19 it was for them and it was a lovely September Thursday indeed.

I commend them. We didn't think about the memorability of our wedding day. I routinely think it is the day before (and have even asked my husband if we could just unofficially change it to match my forgetful mind. Because seriously how memorable is 09/26/15?!) Yep, our anniversary was last week. Luckily I remembered it this year! And even though we didn't do any specific celebrating that day due to busy schedules we headed off for a weekend of a Friday night Disney date and relaxing poolside at the Ritz for a spell before my busy fall and holiday photo season really gets going.

I was absolutely delighted to start things off this fall capturing Harley and Austin's truly memorable wedding celebration at Bok Tower Garden's last week and just had to give you all a peek into their sunny garden day. Congrats you two!

Junaid + Samiya Wedding Preview — Orlando Wedding Photography

Summer time is always an adventure in its own over here at Caroline Maxcy Photography that involves a little less time behind the camera (because of, well, Florida heat, rain, humidity, etc.) and a lot more time refreshing and prepping for the coming fall season. So I welcome any sweet reprieve where I get to hop back behind the camera to capture this type of gorgeousness. Junaid and Samiya's wedding celebration in Orlando, FL earlier this month was a vibrant dream full of colorful, shimmering details and sweet family and friends. I loved being there to celebrate alongside them all! Congrats you two!

Historic Downtown Savannah Pulaski Square Film Wedding Photography — Kortney + Jimmie

When one of my very best friends, Kortney, said she was semi-eloping to Historic Downtown Savannah I said “I’m there with my camera in hand!” I’m not sure that’s how elopements work but never-the-less this sweet, intimate celebration included a handful of close family and a friend or two (or three, really, including the self-invited me plus my camera). :) I hit the road with my trusty side-kick mom to enjoy a weekend in this charming city celebrating my long-time friend who said “I do” beneath the ancient oaks of historic Pulaski Square. What a true delight! Congrats Kortney and Jimmie! And thanks for letting me capture the joyous day!

New eyes, giant oaks and new excitement tucked within the grand messiness of things quite old — An artist's musings

2017-12-10-Christine-and-Dan-Film-0041.jpg

This spring I spent any free time I had reading the loveliest of books about the places we call home and the story of trees and seeing our sweet Maker in it all called Placemaker by @christiepurifoy. (Get your hands on a copy pronto, people.) It sent my head a swirl of thoughts of my own home and tree stories throughout my life and may or may not have sent me on an online hunt for the oldest trees in Florida. But I’ll leave you to discover that story yourself.

I remember the adjustment when I first moved back to Florida nine years ago after a slow ten year crawl up the east coast from the hills of north Florida, to the hustle of Atlanta, to the southern charm of central North Carolina collecting stories along the way. Coming home as an adult and a more refined artist with new eyes, the things I was enamored by the most were the trees, giant oaks dripping with Spanish moss. How did I not appreciate these more as a child in the sprawling shade of their twisting branches?

The excitement of “new” doesn’t always involve shiny, pristine things. It can oftentimes be found tucked within the messiness of things quite old. Like new life a bloom in ancient tree limbs you never thought to look at before. Fresh nests within its branches. The old cradles the new in a beautiful pairing. Unable to separate one from the other. As equals they spring forward in excitement together.

And this was a bit of my story of coming home. My new eyes turned towards things I never thought to look at before, marveling that they were there all along.

Here at this wedding celebration in the heart of central Florida Christine and Dan stand beneath the limbs of an ancient oak, firmly rooted by a central Florida lake. Who knows how old it is or the story’s these limbs could tell. But this day they tell the story of something new, the start of a journey that began in its late afternoon shade.

Acqualina Resort and Spa Wedding Photography — Zexu + Nick Film Wedding Preview — Sunny Isles, FL

It has taken me nearly two weeks to get this wedding day preview to you all (thanks to packing for a move while renovating the new place), but that only means that it has been long enough to get my film scans back and... I'm totally in love (per usual)! Zexu and Nick's Sunny Isles, FL wedding celebration at Acqualina Resort and Spa this month was truly stunning. What a sweet and beautiful pair! And a big bonus for getting to work with an incredible vendor team. Congrats you two!
