Yay for this gorgeous pair that tied the knot last month in the classiest of ranch affairs! I loved being there to capture the celebration and share in all the fun. Congrats Sara and Kris!

Horseshoe Bend in Page, Arizona at golden hour is nothing short of magical. Add in a gorgeous bride and groom and 60 of their closest family and friends bathed in the warm desert light and you have something like a dream. Sheri + James said their joyful, tearful “I dos” earlier this month canyon side and I had the honor of being there to capture it all.
Here we are in the heart of a frigid winter (even for us Floridians at times) and I’m dreaming of warmer days. So why not share a peek into Alexa and Jordan’s seaside Sanibel Island wedding from this past summer. Revisiting these images is like a treat! I can almost hear the lull of the waves and the rustle in the palm leaves and nearly feel the sweet summertime sun on my skin…
In reflecting on the last year I took some time to note things that had given me life or drained me in the past. (It’s an effort in aiding in decision making for this “decision fatigued” gal right here. And the idea is all thanks to Emily P. Freeman and her “The Next Right Thing” podcast!) Something that undeniable breathed life in to my work and inspiration was the process of shooting creatively with film. (You can check out my past blog post about the process and love affair by clicking here and here.) So I set out to spend more time behind my film camera pointing it at beautiful things and lovely light by marking down a few “inspired styled shoots” in my calendar. This is the very first of them…
Anna Grace’s Senior Session at Dark Hammock Legacy Ranch was nothing short of a dream…

Oh April. In a time when life springs forward fresh and new again April holds some of the most difficult memories for me. Seven years ago we unexpectedly on a sunny spring time day lost my rock of a father. And each year as April rolls around the memories of his sweetness, the aching to feel his hug again and the hole that is left behind in my life and heart looms large. But every year the sweet Lord gives me so many glimpses of his goodness during this time. Like the beaming, crinkled nose smile of my baby girl who a part of him lives on in and the invitation to be a part of the loveliest of springtime wedding days with the sweetest of pairs. Paizley and Jake your wedding day celebration at The Barn at Paso Fino was the sweetest gift filled with so much beauty, joy and love. Thanks for having me!

What a fun weekend celebrating Jackie and Chris at Kai Kai Farm! These two had to cancel their March 2020 wedding just days earlier as the country shut down. Luckily these two decided to officially get married on their originally wedding day and picked a date a year to get dressed up and celebrate with family and friends. It was an honor to be there to capture it all! Congrats you two!

Last year this time…
I have a feeling we are going to be hearing that a lot in the coming weeks and months. Reminiscing back to a a world without Covid, before words and phrases like “pandemic” and “social distance” and “mask mandates” were foreign and strange. I keep thinking about how surreal it would be to have time traveled just one year ahead and landed yourself in a March 2021 grocery store or airport or classroom or board meeting. I imagine it would quite possibly look and feel the closest to one of those apocalyptic movies our current culture has ever seen. The entire world has been changed by it. I could go on for days lamenting the loss of a way of life our children will never know while holding to hope for a future and new normal that will hold some newfound joy somewhere for us all… but I digress…
Last year this time… I was packing for a trip to Italy while continuously refreshing the Italian news following this thing called “Coronavirus” plus squeezing in a photo shoot in Miami with this lovely pair set to marry, seaside in the summer. So much would change. Within that weekend our Italian tour was canceled. Within two months their wedding was postponed. But for that moment, the first weekend in March, we enjoyed the vibrancy of the world we once lived in. We wandered gorgeous Miami from a sunny, palm tree clad State Park beach to the eclectic Wynwood neighborhood, butting up against the beautiful city’s crowds all along the way. Oh what a day!
Hannah and Patrick's vibrant and colorful hometown wedding this past weekend celebrated all things Florida, family and friends! From the custom Jayebird watercolor invitations to the lush, vibrant florals to the Citrus Moscow Mule signature drink with a twist of orange everything was a delight through and through. Add in a sentimental ceremony plus a separate private vow reading beneath the towering oaks that included a tear or two and you have a wedding celebration for the books. Thank you for inviting me (and the crew) in to capture it all! Congrats you two!

A year ago on my 40th bday I was arriving home from a impromptu bday trip with my best friend to Puerto Rico, recovering from a miscarriage less than a month before and getting ready to start packing for a whirlwind Italy tour we were set to jet off for in a just over a week. Little did I know how much life was about to change. Needless to say my 41st trip around the sun was quite unexpected (as 2020 was for us all). And while the change is so surreal and at times heartbreaking this past year holds some of my very fondest memories. When the world shut down, trips were canceled, fertility treatments postponed and our lives became framed within the walls of our home.
But we were the lucky ones.
We found peace there.
Home was cozy and the slower pace meant more room to breathe. The halting of work meant the release of the pressure to hustle. We didn't set a morning alarm for months on end. We slept, like really caught up on possibly decades of lost sleep. And after 3 years of unexplained delayed fertility. We got pregnant. Naturally. We marveled in wonder at the thought of it all. I walked through nine quite lovely months of glowy pregnancy in a pandemic. We said "Happy New Year" from the comfort of our cozy couch and really meant it. And then 8 days into 2021 we met our Norah, our now 6 week old doll of a baby girl... And that's just the start of it.
40 was unexpectedly so good to me.
Today I say goodbye to that 40th year of life and welcome 41. Here's to all that it may hold, in the joyfully anticipated and unexpected too.

This luxury Florida Barn Wedding and Event’s wedding day beneath the oaks was one for the books! I couldn't have asked for a more lovely day, gorgeous venue and perfect pair for my first wedding back after having my sweet babe. Plus the guest list was filled with some of my very favorites. Dennis and Cassandra thank you for having me and inviting me to capture these sweet memories for you all for generations to come!

Exactly one month ago just over a week past our due date at 12:02am on January 8, 2021 our world’s changed forever. Norah Catherine Fox enter our lives (via C-section after my water breaking in the wee hours of the morning followed by 43 hours of labor… but that’s a whole story in itself for another time). I was so excited to see her for the first time, this little “stranger” as I thought she would seem, to study her features and get to know her over time. And then I laid eyes on her, just past midnight when they placed her in her daddy’s arms and he tilted her down to meet me for that first look.
I knew her.
These two are getting married tomorrow! And its my first wedding back since the arrival of our baby girl last month. So here we go! A new rhythm of life and work with a little one. Good thing I have an incredible group of folks to support and help along the way (shout out to the super hands-on hubby, grandma and my trusty, talented photo assistant Emme!). I’m so thankful for the incredible couples who continue to ask me to be a part of telling their story.
What a day! Last weekend my mother-in-law tied the knot to the sweetest man in a romantic, rainy-day celebration that was a true tribute to family. The rain may have pushed the festivities back a little later into the evening but just look at the glowy, evening magic we were able to capture in the "change of plans" plan. Cheryl and Mike I love you dearly and am honored to be a part of the fam! Caroline
