A Two Day Girlfriend's Adventure in Puerto Rico — Fine Art Film Travel Photography

A Two Day Girlfriend's Adventure in Puerto Rico — Fine Art Film Travel Photography

It was probably last summer when my best friend started strongly suggesting we get a trip on the books for my 40th Birthday in February. “We can’t just let it come and go without doing anything. You’re turning 40!” she’d say. We cleared our schedules for a long weekend adventure and then… I just couldn’t commit. Where to go? Who could come? Would I want to be away from my hubby and family on my actual 40th bday? I drug my feet and it wasn’t until the beginning of my birth month (and after my miscarriage) before I could get serious about getting something booked. I dreamed of lounging by a pool, a turquoise water view and some lovely R&R with yummy food. Florida was filled to the brim this time of year and all our favorite resorts were either booked or only available at an exorbitant price. Then we noticed that fights to Puerto Rico from Tampa were crazy affordable and resorts weren’t nearly as expensive. We could fly to PR and stay a few nights at a lovely resort for less than booking a place in Florida. And it checked all of my boxes. Plus we ended up doing a mid week trip that got us back on the Saturday of my actual birthday. Which mean’t I could celebrate the day with the hubs and my family. We were in!

Long weekend in London BFF Trip — London Fine Art Film Photography

Long weekend in London BFF Trip — London Fine Art Film Photography

Last April my best friend and I slipped quietly away to London for a long weekend. I didn’t post a single photo on social media. Somehow our closest friends didn’t even seem to know. We didn’t mean for it to be so secretive. We just literally picked a spot with cheaper(er) flights (right at $400), less than 8 hours away and plenty of good food options (the later being the most important) booked the trip, packed our bags (and cameras) and were off. Despite the perceived idea that woman (and right brain thinkers) should be able to multi-task I simply can’t. If I’m enjoying a moment it feels like a complete departure (and entirely impossible) to step away and post something on social media (or text or call or do anything else conversational related). So on each trip I take I either choose to take an hour or two at the end of the day to recap or take that hour or two to get some more sleep. With only three packed days, sleep won out on this trip. We spent our days wandering about and eating our way through a city that was much more sprawling than I thought. It was a delight and I came home with a handful of rolls of film, a single antique letterpress drawer as a souvenir and the memory of so many delightful sights and tasty foods to treasure.

Historic Downtown Savannah Pulaski Square Film Wedding Photography — Kortney + Jimmie

When one of my very best friends, Kortney, said she was semi-eloping to Historic Downtown Savannah I said “I’m there with my camera in hand!” I’m not sure that’s how elopements work but never-the-less this sweet, intimate celebration included a handful of close family and a friend or two (or three, really, including the self-invited me plus my camera). :) I hit the road with my trusty side-kick mom to enjoy a weekend in this charming city celebrating my long-time friend who said “I do” beneath the ancient oaks of historic Pulaski Square. What a true delight! Congrats Kortney and Jimmie! And thanks for letting me capture the joyous day!

Kandi + Jeff Engaged — Boca Grande, Florida Engagement Photography

Kandi and Jeff are getting hitched this weekend! I can't wait to be there for the sure to be sweet and gorgeous celebration at Bok Tower Gardens and today I couldn't help but share their equally as lovely engagement session from Boca Grande, FL, a place near and dear to their hearts. We wandered the quaint and colorful downtown streets in this adorable seaside town before heading to the infamous Banyan Street with their pup! Then we of course had to wrap things up with a sunset stroll along the gulf shore. Isn't it gorgeous!

Can't wait for them to become husband and wife this weekend!

Impromptu Portrait Sesh at The Standard — Miami, FL

The Lido Restaurant at The Standard is one of my favorite spots to dine in all of Miami. Every time I wander through their gardens on the way from the valet to this dockside gem of a restaurant overlooking the Miami Beach bay I dream of taking pause one day to capture some photos... if only I had willing models...

Yesterday was the day.

Thanks Edwin and Caitlin for our impromtu photo session at this lovely place!
